Heart disease and Stroke are among the most common causes of death in Mississippi . The preponderance of the burden rests on the underserved residents of the State. These lack the education, and the resources necessary to engage in adequate preventive practices. In addition, the paucity of health access in these communities exacerbates the already poor health status. As a result, increase in preventive practices through health education, and screening for Hypertension, Diabetes, Hypercholesterolemia and Body Mass Index (BMI) and Counseling in these communities will help to reduce the incidence of heart disease, and stroke. This is carried out by over 45 volunteer physicians and nurses, and currently over 3500 residents have benefited from this program.

  • Provide health Education/Screenings on preventing Heart Disease/Stroke in targeted communities.

  • Partner with Health Facilities/ Agencies for Local Health Fairs/Seminars/Workshops
  • Screen for Cholesterol, Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure and BMI
  • Provide workshops on diet/exercise
